A MONTH IN THE COUNTRY | 19 AUGUST Written by Ivan Turgenev, directed by Jennifer Flowers and featuring QUT's 3rd year Actors. Presented by QUT Precincts for the Creative Industries Faculty. By Special Arrangement with Dominie Pty Ltd. Natalya Petrovna is married to rich landowner Arkadi Islaev. Bored with life, Natalya welcomes the attention of Mikhail Rakitin as her devoted but resentful admirer. Rakitin notices that Natalya has been on edge since the arrival of Belyaev, the new tutor for Natalya's child. The play centres on Natalya's realization that she has fallen in love with Belyaev and he with her. Top Map of Gardens Theatre - Gardens Point   Map of The Loft - Kelvin Grove Top Reviews from Alumni who attended previous Alumni Theatre Nights I attended the alumni evening production of "Live Acts on Stage" and would like to send my congratulations to all involved. I have been involved in theatre for many years so my compliments are based on this experience. Helen Christinson and Jessica Martin who played Hera, wife of Zeus and Eris, goddess of strife, respectively gave excellent performances. Jessica's costume and makeup were brilliant. The overall costuming was innovative but at the same time practical, given the sloping stage area the actors were working on. The sloping stage, with its opening portholes and closed-circuit T.V., proved effective for displaying earth and the underworld. Lighting and effects were excellent. Congratulations once again for an excellent night of entertainment and enlightenment. I wish I could have learnt about the myths in that way!! Best wishes Jean M. Ashford The Alumni Theatre Evenings provide my family and I a very economical night "at the theatre" - but importantly allow us an opportunity to see the quality of production our young thespians, dancers, musicians and directors are able to achieve. Being an Alumni allows four of us to attend the opening night of a QUT theatre performance, receive one complimentary drink, and get free parking on campus (very important when you're running late!) for just $10. We've been to nearly every production in the last two years and looking forward to attending many more. Occasionally, just occasionally, I'll run into a person I knew from QIT days, but more the norm is to meet different people from a wide range of courses and years who are taking advantage of the night's production.
