BEEDS Great Debate Here's 1st year Dean's Scholar Jason Li with his account of the evening… For me, one of the first year Dean's Scholars, it was my first time participating in the Great Debate. I thought it would be more formal as it is called the 'Great' Debate and run by DS (known, and expected, to be smart). However as soon as Tristan started talking about last year's Debate and the things that went on… wow, I was totally wrong. Find out who won this year! (PDF,655KB). BEEDS Amazing Race 15 fresh-faced Dean's Scholars from the 2011 cohort arrived at the Gardens Point campus on Friday afternoon to take part in the annual BEEDS Amazing Race. Following a bit of icebreaking and an intense warm-up routine, the stage was set. Four teams were created, and all would have one goal – to work their way through a trail of clues around the campus as quickly as possible. The groups dispersed, with their dyed cups of water in hand, unraveling clues and making their way to each checkpoint, where they would be faced with a minor challenge. The result - hands were dyed, the teams got to know their way around the campus much better, and the RED team emerged as victors, making their way back to base in 50 minutes. Hot on their heels were the YELLOW, GREEN and BLUE teams. With all teams back and dinner being served, hungers and thirsts were relieved, and the new first year Dean's Scholars got the opportunity to mingle with each other, as well as the many older students who were in attendance. A special thanks to all of our volunteers and committee members who made this event a great start to 2011 for BEEDS. Bring on the next event! Past News
