Lionel Manua

In 2006, Lionel’s law firm merged with Rageau and Kikira Lawyers to become Rageau Manua & Kikira Lawyers.  This large, national law firm has 13 lawyers and 23 support staff.  Their headquarters are based in Port Moresby, with a branch office in Lae.  The firm has three divisions – litigation, property and commercial.  Lionel, a partner in the firm, is responsible for the litigation division.  rmklawyers@daltron.com.pg or +675 321 0941.

Diaswati Mardiasmo

After graduating, Diaswati worked for four months as an international market research officer with the ANTIMA Group in Ottawa, Canada.  She says it was a rewarding experience and QUT helped her a lot with regards to international business, country knowledge and research.  Diaswati also went on a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia, and although not directly related to her degree, cross cultural information she received throughout her course helped her understand and survive.  She also resumed her career as a model for a short period.  Diaswati is currently studying for her honours degree in international business at QUT.  d.mardiasmo@student.qut.edu.au or 0415 779 222 or 07 3398 5573.

Neville Marsh

Since leaving QUT in 2002, Neville has spent four years with The University of Adelaide, first as Dean of Graduate Studies and then for three years as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research).  He says this was an exciting time for the university during which he oversaw twenty percent growth in research student numbers, a fifteen percent growth per annum in competitive research income and amongst other things, the appointment of three Federation Fellows.  Having retired at the end of 2006, Neville was honoured with the award of a Professor Emeritus appointment and continues to be active in professional leadership in the national and international thrombosis and haemostasis fields.  neville.marsh@adelaide.edu.au.

John McLean

After graduating, John worked with Tritronics Australia before moving to Brisbane City Council.  Later, his yearning for travel took over and he backpacked through Europe where he met his wife of 26 years, a Montana girl with an Arts/Education degree from Montana State University.  They have three daughters. In 1983, John and his wife purchased an electronic service business in Billings, Montana, in the USA, which they successfully operated until 1997.  With economic changes and challenges in the area they sold out and John took up a position with CONOCO Oil in the refinery’s electrical department, where he says he was able to put his education to better use as a maintenance planner.  He is currently an area planner where he and his colleagues estimate and assess daily maintenance activities, expense projects and capital projects involving mechanical and electrical engineering.  John would be delighted to hear from old classmates.  pjmcle@bresnan.net  or +1 406 656 1098.

Melissa Merrin

Marianne Mettes

Alison Muirhead

Roland Odsey

Roland is currently a cadastral surveyor with built environment consultants, Landpartners Limited, South Brisbane.  He commenced studying engineering at the University of the Philippines, but pursued surveying after winning a scholarship.  Roland has accrued more than 12 years of extensive experience in all aspects of surveying including cadastral, engineering and topographic surveys.  He also undertakes part-time project management and has been involved in surveying some of the major development projects in south-east Queensland.  Roland was a member of the supervising staff monitoring the implementation of government policy on political, economic and social issues in his home region of the Philippines.  He has also researched the role of non-government organisations in the development of indigenous cultural communities.

Malcolm O’Leary

Jodie Parker

After graduating, Jodie worked for a year with the Australian Quality Council before starting her own event management business.  Using her hospitality background, gained whilst at QUT, as well as skills learned through the New Enterprise Initiative Scheme (NEIS), she started Iceberg Events from her two-bedroom flat at Toowong. Despite completing a Graduate Certificate in Education (TESOL), Vanessa has recently returned to her first teaching area and is currently the primary arts specialist at St Francis College, Crestmead.  She teaches art, music, drama and dance to students from Prep to Grade 7.  Vanessa says English is the second language of nearly fifty percent of her students, so all her training has not gone to waste.

Louise Rollman

At the end of 2006, Louise was the recipient of a Lord Mayor’s Young and Emerging Artists' Fellowship, which enabled her to undertake a three month residency with the International Studio and Curatorial Program (ISCP) in New York, USA.  In 1999, Louise established Satellite Space, an artist/curator-run project space that specialised in facilitating emerging forms.  She also recently launched her first exhibition and sale of works model that existed entirely on-line with eBay, 7 Artists 7 Days and 7 Artists 7 Days literally.   This is a ‘nomadic’ gallery platform still in its infancy for contemporary artists internationally.  valleygirl@powerup.com.au  or 0403 004 772 (mobile).

Carmel Ross

Paul Spresser

Currently working for SAI Global as an electrotechnology client manager (www.saiglobal.com), Paul has had a bit of a sea change from hazardous area installation work to product certification auditing.  He says this was probably brought on by turning 50 last year, and the fact that he has been working in that area for a long time.  Paul now lives in Brisbane with his son (17 years old – where did the time go?).  Leaving his studies in the late ‘70s to join the Australian Army, and later returning to complete his degree, Paul is trying to organise a reunion to be held in May 2008.  He would very much like to hear from engineers and applied scientists who graduated in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s.  pj.spresser@bigpond.com.

In the early ‘60s, Len managed a pharmacy at 500 Ipswich Road, Annerley, which he bought in 1963 and operated alone until 1982.  He amalgamated with J S Tooma in 1982 and worked in partnership until selling Pharmacy 500 in 1996.  Len continued doing locum work until his retirement at the beginning of 2007.  brons@ecn.net.au or 07 3375 6996.

Janice Stubblefield (nee Keioskie)

After graduating, Janice taught at Sarina State School for a couple of years.  In 1960, she married Lee, an American naval petty officer, and moved to the USA, where they raised six children and currently have 15 grandchildren.  They lived in various US states whilst Lee attended bible college and then served churches.  For the past 14 years they have worked and lived with the homeless population in the Ogden Rescue Mission in Utah, helping to provide shelter, necessities and counselling.  They have made several trips back to Australia and visited every state and the Northern Territory, while catching up with family.  janlee11@juno.com.
