Would you like to help today's QUT students get a practical start to understanding the workplace?

The QUT Career Mentor Scheme (an initiative of the QUT Alumni) program introduces Alumni and industry professionals to current students in order to act as a mentor offering:
  • support
  • industry perspective
  • encouragement

No promise of employment is required in a mentoring relationship.

Typical activities include:

  • 'shadowing' the mentor at work;
  • observing workplace or professional meetings;
  • participating in work activities;
  • arranging an activity with another professional or organisational member;
  • discussing contemporary issues over lunch or coffee;
  • sounding a student's assessment solution against a mentor's practical knowledge.

How much time will it take?

As a general guide, mentors and students make contact for approximately one hour/fortnight.
